Cybersecurity researcher, DFIR specialist, CTF creator, and Black Hat trainer.

About Me

I’m Mo’men Mahmoud, but most people call me Moe (or moex0 online). I’m a cybersecurity professional with expertise in incident response, digital forensics, building realistic CTFs, and emulating real-world adversaries.

My journey into security started from an unexpected place: electronics and communications engineering. While studying microcontrollers, computer design, circuits, and signals, I discovered that understanding how systems work at a fundamental level gave me a unique perspective on how they can be broken. That curiosity helped me discover my talent and love for understanding the internals of how things work and connecting the dots, which is what DFIR is all about.

What drives me is the belief that I can make a meaningful difference in the world through cybersecurity. Whether that’s hunting for adversaries, building detection capabilities, or helping others develop their skills, I want my work to matter.

One of the things that I’ve been fortunate to do and proud of is training professionals at Black Hat MEA 2024.

Beyond security, I’m also a big fan of some boring stuff like:

  • Running, which helps me clear my head and think through complex problems.
  • Reading, especially books on self-improvement such as Atomic Habits, The Power of Now, Deep Work, and many more.
  • Exploring psychology, which fascinates me and helps me with understanding others as well as myself; to be a better person overall.

The Purpose of this Blog

I’m a firm believer in sharing knowledge. In our field (and any field), hoarding information helps no one. When we share what we learn, we all get better not only at the technical, but also the personal level. That’s why I write, teach, contribute, and collaborate on different things.

This blog is my space to document my learning journey, share what I think could help others, and showcase practical work. You’ll find articles about technical deep dives, lessons from my career, write-ups from investigations, and projects.

Note: Everything here reflects my personal views and experiences. These opinions are my own.

Let’s Connect

I’m always open to connecting with fellow security practitioners, learners, or anyone curious about the field. Whether you want to discuss a post, collaborate, or just say hello, feel free to reach out.
